Joey and I visited friends in DC and got to test my new tripod and shutter release during the fireworks show! The most difficult part of the day was finding a place with a stunning view. Many people view the fireworks from the mall, but it is very crowded, and the fireworks go off in the sky directly above you. We wanted the DC skyline in the photos! What is the top spot to view fireworks in Washington DC?? We ended up going to George Washington Memorial Parkway in Arlington. These photos were taken near the US Marine Corps War Memorial (http://www.nps.gov/gwmp/historyculture/usmcwarmemorial.htm).
The top photograph is definitely my favorite and was actually one of the first five we took! I liked the look of the photos when the sky was still bright blue. You can see that it became very dark as the 20 minute fireworks show progressed.
We had a blast learning about night photography. Happy 4th!!
